Special Friend
This is a song I wrote & recorded like 5 years ago. I've been pretty self-conscious about it. Finally I said WTF? It's called Special Friend. You can actually dance to it. Feel free to shake your booty at any time. Lol. It features an intro from the Oompa Loompa choir. :-) Enjoy! http://m.soundcloud.com/d...edlight/special-friend

I liked it. If you have Melodyne I would work on the Ooompa Loompa choir. They seemed out of tune (unless that is what you were going for).

Bapu, Actually intoxicated is more what I was going for. And I think I accomplished it nicely!!! I was hoping I could get a few more listens to this song. It's something I recorded 5 years ago. I never really finished it. But I think it has it's own special charm!!

Interesting song but creative and full of character as it moves along. I like the guitar work and the other instrumentation fits in well throughout the song. The vocals are good but the beginning vocals I would just loose them completely as they take away from the remainder of this song. Nice one otherwise. Peace and Blessings, John

This is quite listenable to Ralph, as unprocessed Wookiee singing is known to kill I never make comments about vocals. Thanks for sharing.

I like this song very much, and I wouldn't change a thing. It filled my speakers and studio with a big, full sound. It's different enough that I wouldn't know how to categorize it, which is a good thing. You have your own sound, and I love it.

Thank you so much guys!! John, The Ooompa Loompa thing just happened when I was recording the vocals. While I was waiting with the cans on. I believe that intoxicating substances may have been a catalyst. When I listened the next day I was like, "cool". Lol. You're right, It doesn't fit at all. Yet I could never take it out now. Thanks Wook and Lynn! It's a very weird song for me. I don't usually write songs that people can dance to, especially young people. Lol. This song has that sort of feel, but then it also has lots of guitars too!! So it's a unique song for me. Thanks for listening!

Is it OK if I bump this song back to the top? I wouldn't want anyone to miss the Ooompa Loompa choir in all it's glory. Lol. And, even though this song is completely unfinished and unpolished. To me, it has it's own special charm!! Feel free to dance at will.

It is sure okay to bump this, thanks a bunch. I have mentioned some Oasis feel to another song of you, and what can I can say - I almost had the feeling that Noel Gallagher has performed the guitar solo! Very nice solo indeed. The song, including the Oompa Loompa choir, has a cool vibe, which I like. I have some tiny critique, though: with a length of over five minutes, I think there is not too much happening harmony-arrangement-wise. I think the song would be great with some C-part, a middle-part, just something else happening, to make it sound great!

I like the song..... not the first 20 seconds so much..... I think you should edit that out. The song itself is good. A bit long but good.

Hey Tom!! Thanks for bringing this song back from the brink of oblivion. Lol. I'm glad that you like it and I agree with you that it needs "something else". I really dig the Oasis comparison. I have an Oasis cover of "Some Might Say" that I did. Now I really want to post it. Can you still post covers here? Anyway, thanks for the listen. Herb, you are right. I can easily lose the first 20 seconds of this song. But in a drunken moment of inspiration and desperation I recorded the Oompa Loompa. I think the song would be better without it though. But you are both right. It needs to be shorter, or, arranged differently. Thanks for listening guys!!!

Yeah, the doubling is a little off, but it's difficult to get tight. I think Melodyne was mentioned and they make a fine product, or vvocal w/Sonar. Had a floyd vibe when the lead guitar kicked in. It was stepping on the vocal a little when the vox came back in. Another great Oompa Loompa tune, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ADpsIb7vfs

love the big delayed guitar that comes in throughout and the feel of the song. Only crit is not keen on the organ sound - a bit too clean for my liking. I like a dirty organ - just ask Bapu

This one must have gotten lost. I seem to have missed it before. It has a 60's vibe to it IMO. Nice work! The OmmPaas are kinda spacey but I think it fits.

Wow, thanks for the comments guys!! I haven't been around for a while. I need to listen to and comment more on the great music here! Robby, I can tell you listened by your comments. Thanks! Yes, doubling is not something I like to do that often. It fit in this song but it is slightly off. I am against using Auto-Tuning of any kind. I like my bum notes, lol, they're like hairy eyebrows, they give my songs character. DEWEY COX!!! I was just watching that today. Great movie!! Thanks for listening man. Thank you Daryl & Tim for listening. Like I said, I sat on this song for more than 5 years. I was completely self-conscious about it. It was written and recorded in a particularly difficult time in my life and it definitely reflects that chaos and insanity well. And you can shake your booty to it!!! I never thought I would ever post it. The fact that I've gotten some really nice responses has made me very happy!! Thanks!

Ralph, this is way cool! That guitar kicking in really puts some punch in an already good song. I echo others on the intro voices being somewhat out of place, though. The song starts for me around that 00:20 point.

This is way cool indeed! Ya, it is kind of quirky and that is what I like about it. I love the intro vocals -- they match up with the interesting ending. It is a bit long, which I guess doesn't match commercial expectations, but I kinda like that also. Nice one.

Guys, thank you so very much for listening! I thought this song had gone to Cakewalk Song Forum Heaven but Scott brought back to life again. Thank you Man! Yes, some people like the intro & others don't. It was a purely improvisational moment when I sang it. I could take it out easily and I probably should. I am glad you like the rest of the song though! Freddy, I think quirky says it all!! I take that as a great compliment because quirky is what I was going for. Thank you. :-) Robbie, your compliments are always appreciated! Remember, I am a "Missing Person" and I totally respect your work. Thanks again!!!
