Splat 2016.08 Melodyne Issues
I've stayed with Melodyne Studio 4.0.2 because of the lingering issues with 4.0.4 and it's been working great. I updated to the 2016.08 patch to check out the new comping improvements and those seem to be working fine. I did notice something strange with Melodyne though.
I typically break an audio track in to clips to 'Melodyne' it and initially all went well after the update to Sonar. After several rendered clips I got a weird phasing on a tuned note, like the original audio is still there. Sure enough, after checking there was a copy of the clip
under the one being Melodyned! I didn't think that could happen in take lanes? How did it happen? Thinking it may have happened when I comped the track, I went through and found several other clips that had a copy underneath. Very strange! I deleted them and after that, everything worked as it should.
Fast forward to last night. Same scenario. I'm tuning a vox track and after several successfully rendered clips Melodyne makes a strange popping noise and disappears! When I redo the region FX, Melodyne is blank, no blobs and in addition to this, the audio track I'm working on is now dead. It won't play back! Every other track plays but not this one. The clips are still there but they won't playback! I delete Melodyne, check for dup clips, shut down, reboot. Nothing, the track will not playback!
This morning I checked and the track plays! I tuned a few clips and everything is fine then, the same thing happens. All of a sudden I have dual clips.
Tonight I'm going to try other tracks, other projects and also roll back to see if this behavior continues. I'll report back. If anyone has seen any of these type of strange goings on, please post here. Any other thoughts or comments are of course welcome.
