Split second delay in midi track?

I'm "old" to music,  but new to CW5.  I've been reading through the tutorials, this forum, etc., and I haven't come across any reference to the problem I am having. I started with a simple TTS-1 Piano track (developed using staff view - forgive me, it's what I know), and I added a midi track (also built out using staff view).  When I play the two together, the TTS-1 piano track notes play as written, but the notes on midi track sound a split second late; not as written.  Any clue as to what's going on here?

I am running CW5 version 5.0.6 on a HP Pavillion Notebook/Windows 7 Computer; just have the computer's own sound card at this point.  Will build out as I understand what I am doing....

You need to set the latency as low as it works in the Options-dialogue. The integrated soundchip most likely only understands MME-driver mode or ASIO4ALL (free download) which might work better. It is also possible, that you will not get the latency to an acceptable level (below, say, 12 milliseconds)
with your soundchip.

Welcome to the forum.
In order to play a TTS-1 track, it has to have a MIDI track with data in it and that MIDI track's output set to the TTS-1 soft synth. Looks like you have that part down.
The other MIDI track; what is it's output? Microsoft's GS Wavetable synth?
You can have as many as 16 MIDI tracks sent to one instance of TTS-1. What happens when you set the second MIDI track's output to TTS-1?

Yes - the second (deleayed) MIDI track's output WAS Microsoft's GS Wavetable.  And when I set the second MIDI track to TTS-1, the delay problem was resolved.    Thanks for that, Greg. (So satisfying to have a breakthrough)

However, now both of my track voices sound the same? (OOps).

These are neophyte issues, I'm sure.  Now I need to get a handle on the relationships between channel/bank/patch/controller.  Back to the help files...

Right. The default patch for TTS-1 is piano, so if you don't set the patches in the MIDI track all the tracks will sound like piano. TTS-1 is a GM synth so it should respond correctly to the patches you select in the MIDI track.
All MIDI tracks sent to the same instance of a soft synth should use different channels, too. Any MIDI tracks sharing channels (on the same synth) will play the same patch regardless of the patch you select.
MIDI channel 10 is reserved for drums, but you can have drums on any channel.

Track 1 set to channel 1 and track 2 to channel 2 or any other channel (except 10 unless it is drums) Next in each track set the patch to the correct setting. For instance it track 1 is piano, set it to that and if track 2 is bass set it to that. Then hit play and listen.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!
