Spotify
I installed spotify because our band leader uses it and often sends us links for spotify to listen to songs. but spotify really bugs the crap out of me because when I click on the "X" in the upper right hand corner a program is supposed to CLOSE! why does spotify not adhere to this same convention??? it really bugs me that if I click on the "X" spotify just minimizes and continues to play if it was playing. I also don't like that it plays the next song even if you didn't choose it! just venting...

Skype is the same. There is a way to close it, which I do every time but can think of off hand. Luckily they're very small programs and don't take up much memory so it's generally OK to leave them open.

If you go to the file menu and select "exit," Spotify will completely shut down (and all music should stop). I really don't know how to stop it from playing the next track when you have it open. If you play a song from an album list or playlist, it will automatically play the next track when it finishes. I guess if you want it to stop, you can just press stop in the transport control. It does seem annoying that there isn't a preference setting to play one track at a time. I did a Google search for this issue and the only results I found were people complaining that their Spotify isn't playing the next track automatically. Annoying people!

I remember when the only way to buy music was on big plastic discs. Darn things kept on playing the next track after you listened to the one you wanted. The only way to stop it was to get out of bed and crawl across the floor through the mountains of stinky washing, empty beer cans, dried pizza and drawing pins (you always find a drawing pin when you're on your hands and knees) and pull the plug... oh to be young again
