Spring Comes to the Ozarks
For the second year in a row, my son tried to capture spring coming via time lapse photography. Last year the battery died a week into it. This year his sons seemed to have moved the camera a couple times. (I believe the camera is in the second story bedroom...or his office, which is also on the second story.) Anyway, it's still pretty cool, if not quite perfect. If he tries it again, he'll aim it lower and maybe take pictures more often (I believe this is every half hour until the last day when he set it for every 5 minutes.) I love watching the dogwoods come out and then the leaves become green. A couple of times you see me and my husband at the bottom in the garden. I believe we were working on the hoses that day (and since it's been raining almost every day since then, I wonder why! lol) Anyway, FWIW, here it is. (on my last time thru it, I noticed the lake changing levels a couple times, too.)

That is really cool. I like how you can barely see the level of the river rise and fall.

A lot of cloudy days there in Missouri, which is why I moved to California. Nice to see the season change though.

That was cool Janet. The lake sure seems to have a lot of movement. Is it used for farming too?

I was hoping you guys would enjoy that. :) Middleman, I never thought about the fact that we have lots of cloudy days. It's sure been a wet spring, though, so maybe we had more than usual. Michael...a lot of movement as in up and down? (that's controlled by the dam down river). No, I don't believe it's used for farming. Most of the land near the lake is hilly and rocky and unsuitable for farming, although there are more vineyards lately. There's farmland only a half hour away though. It's also interesting to see the fog on the lake on cold mornings. I think that's in there towards the end.

True. :) It's fun driving to town when it's foggy like that. There's one bridge we have to cross over and sometimes you can hardly see in front of you. It's also nice being up on the hill looking down at it. :)

Well, sorta. He just set his camera up and then had to remember to turn it off every night and turn it on every morning.

WOW! The weather changes look pretty similar to here, I have a feeling the temperatures are a bit warmer than here though. I thought it was really well done but I'm with Mark it needs more piano...

The temperature changes daily here in the spring, so we never know how to dress...like Bit said once 'the AVERAGE temperature in Missouri is just right.' We rarely have average days though. lol My son would be appalled if he knew I was showing you all this...he's not at all pleased with it. But I think it's pretty cool anyway. I wish we could have shown how amazing the dogwoods looked this year...there must be 100 of them on our little place, mostly concentrated in the area of this picture. And they lasted several weeks this year...it was nice.

Yes Janet, this was a great flower spring down here as well. The dogwoods persisted longer than usual. I'm curious about the process your son used. Is the camera capable of doing time lapse or was it hooked up to a computer that controlled the timing? Thanks, mike

Craig, I thought it was a bit fast too, but that's the setting he chose. :) Mike, his camera can do time lapse. Both my sons and my husband do pro photography (weddings, mostly), so they have some serious cameras. ;) And yes, I understand GAS quite well. lol

Mike, he has a Nikon D3 and a Nikon D700. They both do time lapse, but I'm not sure which one he used. It IS a pretty cool feature, isn't it? :)
