Spring

Today is my last day of spring break. I was off from school from Wed until today which was a needed break from the hassles of teaching.

I was able to compose 2 pieces of music this year, a total of about 8 minutes of music. Spring and Ignoble Servitude are the two pieces and I an quite happy with both of them.

Thanks to all that commented already on Ignoble Servitude.

Glad you had a good break, Ron.  :)  I'm assuming you meant you were able to compose 2 pieces of music this WEEK.  :)  Anyway, this is quite nice.  A lot more 'stately' than I would have done a piece for spring, but what's new.  :)  I hope you're ready for school tomorrow.  I hope I am too!

    Hey Ron
As always excellent writing and production.  The strings sounded tight but natural if that makes sense.  I cant say that the piece brings visions of Spring time in my head but it is neat nontheless.
If you dont mind me asking, what reverb(s) do you use?  Have you tried Spaces yet from East West?

First part is the end of winter, right?  :-)  Very interesting things going on here, Ron.  The full and perfec t sound of your instruments always blows me away.  I could get into seeing an orchestra perform this song live.  A hot cello player in front would be good.  :-)  Female. ;-0  Wow, what a change, oh that the Ignoble Servitude.  Very cool, buddy!

    Thank you lady and gentlemen

    Janet

I composed Ignoble on Wed and Thurs and Spring on Sun and Mon. So not quite a week. I had to relax to get prepared for the rest of the year.

    Mike

I use a lot of reverbs.

I have Lexicon on every track and Perfect Space on a number as well. I also have those 2 on my master track and then once out of Sonar and into Soundforge I add a little Sony reverb as well. Every instance of reverb is different and added just a little at a time.

I have looked at Spaces but am not ready for that yet. If it aint broke, why fix it?

    Warren

You got it right. The piece starts with the end of winter.

    Thanks again

    Ron

Wonderful pieces!  Excellent work as usual.

Spring -  I was trying to picture in my mind what kind of spring you are trying to paint and it seems that there is some drama going on the backdrop on what should be a wonderful season.

Ignoble Servitude - I see you are adding some synths.  The drums and percussion seems to be pointing to the work these slaves are doing.  Any chances these slaves can get out?  Death perhaps?

Brilliant piece, Ron.  Listening while working, the player just went on to the next few compositions, and, frankly, I could have listened to all of them again if not for time pressure (so much music, so little time).

I hope your return to school won't mean a long posting absence.

I heard the first three pieces on your song list.  I'll be honest I didn't pay a ton of attention to them because I'm working, but what I can tell you is at the very least they were very nice background pieces to listen too while doing work.  I'll try to come back and listen to them again.

I thought Spring was a bit "dark" for spring.... still very good chops in a classical sense.

I've been taking a break from music..... I haven't even turned the DAW on in the past week or so.... I've done 20 songs since Jan.... not posting many of them .... but I need a break for a few days before I get back to it....

like xxxlambo said, when I listen to your page, it is very easy for me to "just let it play"..... the music is good and it's not a problem to simply let it roll in the background. I find myself 4 or 5 songs in before too long....

Excellent piece (Spring) Ron.  I thought it was appropriate for spring -- it shook off the darkness of winter in the beginning and stepped out into the sunlight of spring.  Terrific production as well.

Listening... I'm appreciating how accessible your opening theme is.  The B section is a fine contrast... coming back into the A section... it's complicated and a bit darker than the first A section but very nice.

Very accessible tune Ron.  I REALLY like this one although I'm not sure how springlike it is... it more like Fall-Winter and then it ends with the melting snow.  That's more the emotional vibe I get.

Also re. your website.  I don't like that it auto streams from piece to piece w/o a break.  You might consider adding about 5 seconds of silence to the end of your recordings so your listeners get a break between your pieces.  I think the emotional impact of your pieces might be stronger this way.

Anyway, this might be my fav. tune from you just because I found it so accessible!

    Peace,

    Ian

    Ron,

If i may say so this is musically a slight departure for you.  I have always been a big fan of your haunting tonal weavings and adventures but this is that plus a more uplifting and harmonious scaffolding in very hopeful strains.  Very spring! You can see the buds coming out of my speakers!

Quite a lovely and powerful piece of music.
