Stan The Man (and his spacey bass)
Notice the evil look in Bapu's Stan's eyes.

I love that amp Bapu! So I guess the gorillas were busy with something else? It's a great picture but the suspense is killing me! Will it tune? Does it sound like a bass? Is the neck to thick? Should I get a bright light and lock you in a room? !! So how's it hangin' ?

I hope your Alembic doesn't get jealous. She might start playing in D major or something.
In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Hey Marcos, it says your location is between your guitar and amp, does that make you some kind of an effect?

That bass makes you look even cooler than you already were. Although it kinda looks like you're playing a D octave - what's up with that???

bapu D octave on a 5-String? Better put them glasses on my friend. See that's why I stick with 4 strings!! That's the extent of my brain capacity. Actually if I could find a 3-string bass I'd be set...

Looks rigid like a piece of wood. The Bass looks cool though.

Remember Yep? Do you remember some of his rather lengthy (and very helpful) posts on mixing techniques? I'm thinking of one in particular (he repeated this a few times) where he stated that whenever he has a bassist come in to his studio wth a 5 string bass, he wants to take a pair of scissors and cut off that low B string. Bapu, be careful you don't accidentally wander into Yep's studio. I don't know what he'd do with Am strings.

Remember Yep? Nope. Tell that stuff to the guy that uses this one. There's some great stuff on his gear page too. He doesn't have an Alembic or a Spacey though. http://www.daveswiftbass.com/index.html

And, forget 6-string basses (I've seen 8-string fanned out - huge things!), what about the 12(!)-string played by Cheap Trick's bassist, Tom Petersson? It's actually a 4-string with two octave strings each: Then, of course, there's Rick Neilssen's masterpiece (also from Cheap Trick): However, this is the one I think looks like Ed's on steroids:
