Start Blank Project. Add A Track. Get A Track With A Folder Icon. Plus A Midi Track. Plus

Hi Everyone
This is happening in all my Cakewalk Software. Sonar X1 Essentials, CSHS 7XL and , CSHS 6.0

1. I start a new project a blank one with no tracks.
2. I add a track does not matter what kind of track I add, here is what happens.
3. Three tracks are added to the project.
4. One Midi Track, One Instrument Track, and One Track Displaying A Folder Icon.

I have never seen a track before with a folder icon in 20 years of using Cakewalk Software. What it is? None of the buttons work on the track with the folder icon. You can not expand the track icon to reach any of the track settings, input, output, etc.

The above also happens when I insert a soft synth into a blank project. I get 3 tracks, a folder one, a midi one and an instrument one.

Is this some kind of Sonar X1 bug that spread to all my other Cakewalk Software?

Happy Cakewalk Composing

You can get the behavior you're describing with 'Insert Synth' options by checking all three boxes, Audio, MIDI and Synth Folder. Just check the boxes you want. You don't want a folder? Un-check 'Synth Track Folder.'

How are you adding a simple Audio track? Right Click - Insert Audio Track?

I had some really weird behavior in X1 with a truly 'Blank' track so here's something else to try. Delete all the tracks but one Audio track and save that template. Now try and 'Insert Audio Track. What happens.

Again you'll get that behavior if your Synth Insert Options are set up to include a Folder etc.

    Hi Everyone, Larry
Thanks, Larry. I will give the above a try. I did not even know there was an insert synth folder . What is it for and what does the folder contain?
