Start/Stop audio issues

I've been trying a few DAW's out recently, and there's something I've found that's really bothering me.

I'm using a Steinberg UR44 interface, and every other DAW I've tried has the smoothest Audio transport I could ask for. When I press play the audio starts almost instantly, and when I press stop, it stops cleanly.

If I click in the timeline to move the cursor during playback it's just seamless.

Not in Sonar. And this has always been the case.

When I click start there's always a pause. When I click stop there's always a hickup. (Audio stops, then starts up again for a second, then stops).

I'm a fairly experienced Sonar user, and work in technology full time. So when I say I've gone through and patienly adjusted all relevant settings such as buffer sizes, etc. please know that I really have.

This is very dissapointing. I've reluctantly grown used to Sonar's audio quirks, but after checking out DAW's such as Pro Tools and Studio One over the past 2 weeks... I'm learning that these quirks are ONLY in Sonar.

I'm hoping to read some great responses, as opposed to the usual "You're just a hater" flames :-D

I'd start by renaming AUD.INI, and seeing if the default one that SONAR builds on startup clears the problem. If it solves the problem, then you can compare old and new files to find and test the difference(s).

If it doesn't solve the problem, I'll have to cogitate some more.

The good news is that there is a good chance you can fix this, as my system starts and stops on a dime and smooth as a baby's bottom, and pretty much always has (with possibly a few project/plugin-specific exceptions) even on my old Q9550 system.

P.S. I assume you're using ASIO drive mode, correct?

Try running the wave profiler again.
After the last update, Sonar start/stop became very slow, with a second or two pause when hitting start/spacebar before transport would run. After running wave profiler again, it it very snappy...hope this helps.
