Stealthpedal Amplitube 3 Automation Issue

I'm hoping somebody can help me with this to automate my stealthpedal with Amplitube 3 in Sonar X2. I have a Stealthpedal and Amplitube 3 which work well together in Sonar X2. I run into an issue and I can find no clear step by step of how to setup the Stealthpedal/amp 3 record automation in X2 and trial and error is proving unsuccessful. I open an audio track and throw Amplitube 3 into an FX chain. I want to automate the wah or volume using the stealthpedal. Ik has 2 variations for this in their plugin sub menu for midi learn and controller learn. If I assign it through a learn controller and I can move the volume successfully within the plug-in. Now for automating it which is the problem. When I try to record it through automation I have limited success. I tried config as synth which I saw in another thread and it worked once but not again which seems strange. What I don't like about config as synth is it makes the next incarnation of amp 3 only available in a midi track when I need it as an audio effect. Also, in the automation lane within the track I go through the drop down Automation lane->FX chain->Amp 3- Parameter 1- which I assigned to control the volume/ wah and it doesn't register the cc: changes happening even though it's working in Amp 3. I did set -up the parameters within amp 3 as well. It seems like I am doing all the necessary steps but I must be missing something, confusing something, or going about this the wrong way. Has Anyone had success with this set up that can shed some light. X2 rocks and this is the final piece to my set-up puzzle.

Any input would be appreciated

I figured it out for anyone needing the same solution as there is nothing I can find on the web for solving this issue. Here it is step by step for a volume/wah pedal effect using the stealthpedal and automating your live recordings to play back any effect manipulations and/or triggerings within Amplitube to work just like a natural or live rig. The 2 programs mesh flawlessly and the circle is now complete. I have the other expression pedal and the 2 footswitch extension from IK as well and it all works. Thanks to both companies for making very flexible programs and proving my dollars were well spent.

1.) Open a new audio track in Sonar and insert amplitube 3 into fx chain/fx bin in Sonar X2 as a vst plugin. Enable as plugin (Default setting) and don’t configure as synth (found in the plugin properties drop down when you open the plug-in. It’s not needed for this set-up.). In my case I put amp 3 into an fx chain.
2.) Insert wah or volume pedal (or other effect) into amplitube 3. In my instance I added it to stomp A slot 1.
3.) Make sure stealthpedal control is selected and it is lit up in bottom right corner of amp 3 plug-in so the physical pedal is recognized.
4.) Click the “Control” button on the bottom right side of plug-in to open the control dialogue box. Remove any default controls listed by clicking on them and removing them. This is just to be safe so the control is clear and you don’t double manipulate other parameters. Click OK.
5.) Right click on the volume or wah pedal and go to learn control then left click on it.
6.) Move the stealthpedal controller until the learn control engages and the graphical pedal within the plugin starts to move. The stealthpedal is now engaged within the plug-in.
7.) Go to the bottom right corner of the plug-in again and go to the "AUTO" button to open the automation window. Select from the drop down list on the left what parameter you are looking to manipulate. In my case it was Stomp Aà Volume. Click which parameter number you want to assign it to on the right side and click add. In my case it was Parameter 1. Click okay to exit the dialogue box.
8.) Here’s the step I missed. Right click again on the pedal in the plugin and click “Assign Automation”. The parameter you just set up will appear. Left click on the parameter you want to apply. This is what ties it to the automation lane in Sonar.
9.) In the audio track in Sonar select or add an automation lane. You can do this by clicking on the Enveloped looking button on the bottom left of the track box. The lane will appear indented and below the audio track.
10.) Click on the automation lane drop down box. Under the standard volume, pan section it should show any plugin routed in your fx chain. I assume this works for FX bins too for X1 users but I haven’t gone through that set-up so it may vary a bit. Amplitube 3 should be listed here. Click on it and it will open the parameter list. Select the parameter to control, in this case it is parameter 1.
11.) Sonar is now linked to automate. Move your pedal and you should see the cc indicator shift between 0-100%. I can’t remember but I don’t think you need to click read/write trigger buttons on the lane to see this.
12.) The only thing left to do is click write/read on the automation lane and you are almost ready to go.
13.) If you look at the automation write button on the track itself it should be half lit with a small “T” next to the W. This means it will write when touched and is good for fixing spots on an already enveloped automation. For an effect such as volume and wah it will not work so good with an initial run. My default volume was at 0 so when I recorded it, every time I stopped moving the controller it would quit writing and default back to zero, almost sounding like a drop out. Not the desired effect for this instance.
14.) Go to the Track Properties Inspector which can be found in the Track Inspector by opening and it and if not defaulted by clicking the track tab at the top again. Under the Automation section you will see write mode. Click on the drop down beside it and select overwrite. This will allow the automation to continuously write as you record and allow for the natural wah or volume swell.
15.) For every parameter you want to manipulate you will have to set up a separate automation track in the same fashion as the steps above. I was however able to successfully control separate stomp A and stomp B volume pedals for 2 rigs within the same plugin instance using the one stealthpedal and 2 automation lanes. This means within amp 3 you can control several functions with one trigger, switch or midi control pedal.
15.) Sky’s the limit. It should all work now.

Glad you got it all worked out, thanks for sharing the specifics for all of the AmpliTube/StealthPedal/Sonar users!
