Step Record Problem(s)

Hi. I know it's probably some setting that I am missing but I am using the step record feature (not step sequencing) and:

1. The "insertion point location" is showing the Now time, whether the Now Time box is checked or not and not showing me M:B:T

2. No matter how large I set my MIDI buffer when entering any note value the timing is off. Note values (ticks) are reported as being correct in the "Step size" window in step record but it is inevitably off in the actual track.

3. This is driving me crazy. I want enter a three beat run of three groups of sextuplets (in 4/4 and sextuplets are in 16th notes)

Help!

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

I don't think it's some setting in SONAR that's causing this.  I use Step Record a lot and I've tried all of the options in the Step Record dialog box and none can cause what you are seeing.   Since there are no "general" preference settings that affect Step Record, there's nothing to set wrong.

MIDI notes not being recorded "on time" and display irregularities (like the Now time instead of the insert time) sound like computer memory corruption to me.  What could cause that?  I'm not sure.  I suppose you tried rebooting the computer and not running other programs at the same time as SONAR?

Thanks for the fast reply Rob. Reboot results in the same behavior. It's a relief, believe it or not, that it's not a setting in SONAR. I will do some more exploration to see what may be going on. Thanks!
