Step Sequencer - How To Copy A Pattern?

Hello,

This should be a feature but not sure it is.   OK, I have a 1 bar pattern.   I realize I want to make it 2 bars but I want the kick drum lets say to be exactly the same as in the 1st bar.   So i tap out 4 more bars in the "beat" area in the top left, now they are all empty.   How do I get those notes from the first bar into the 2nd bar without having to re-draw?

Thank you!

Adam

Just a suggestion that I've never tried before.. have how about in the piano roll, and you do a range copy/paste ?

oh sure, that would work, but if I am working on a groove in Step Sequencer, that means I have to bounce to MIDI, then copy and paste like you said then go back into step sequencer.

I find it easier to make percussion patterns in Step Sequencer which is why I am in there in the first place.  Plus its easier for me to control synth parameters under each step.

    Thanks though!

I though if you double click on the clip (not on the edge, more like the center of the clip), the piano roll will open up ? and you can do edits with both view without having to bounce (again, I have not tried this before, but I think I did clicked wrongly once, and the piano roll open up).

You can save any pattern you create in SS. Once that pattern is saved, you can load it into any new instance you are starting - then edit it from there.

Another option is to copy the clips in Track View, then just open the clip you want to edit and change it. There may be a setting to "link" a copied clip, so be careful not to choose that. If clips are linked, any change to one could change another. To make little changes in SS pattern, you do not want to link your clips.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

FYI: You can go both ways with the patterns. You can create a midi clip so you can edit in PRV, then you can re-create an SS clip from the changes you made.
