Step Sequencer clips: bouncing down to regular MIDI clip?
I've got a complicated drum track made with a few step sequencer clips rolled out to loop at various lengths. I'd like to just bounce the whole track down to a single regular MIDI clip. When I select "bounce to clip" the resulting MIDI clip is about 30% the length of the original clips and obviously incorrect. It seems like it just takes one instance of each step sequencer clip instead of the rolled out loop length. Is there a way around this?

Never seen this happen but you could try opening the step sequencer clips in the PRV before the bounce. This will change the associated editor from the Step Sequencer to the PRV.

This is happening to me too. I've got an entire song composed of measure length drum step sequences, created using Session Drummer. I want to map them for use with Addictive Drums 2. I am able to bounce everything down to a single MIDI clip, but when I try to convert the bounced MIDI clip back to a Step Sequence, it truncates down to 17 bars, when the original is 227 bars. Is there a limit to the length of a Step Sequence?

The Step Sequencer can do a maximum of 64 beats, with up to 16 steps (i.e., 16th notes) [corrected to 64th notes - see below] per beat. The Step Sequencer is intended more for developing MIDI sequences, which you can then transfer over to the PRV. It isn't really designed to be a "container" for MIDI sequences created in the PRV.

I don't think that would be a sixteenth note. Step Sequencer ONLY deals with a quarter note as the meter base, and there are 4 sixteenth notes per quarter note. You can indeed specify up to 16 steps per beat - couldn't tell you what that note would be. Bob Bone

Correct, I need a second cup of coffee . You can get up to 64th notes per beat when you have 16 steps per beat.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to go back to the step sequencer? You can edit the midi clip in PRV and use it to feed AD.

Man, 64th notes would be bar line madness to try to read. Not at all practical for scoring. Bob Bone

1st, I haven't found an easy way to remap drums from SD to AD. So, any advice on that would be helpful. The reason for going back to step sequencer was to utilize the grid to move cymbals around, add some chokes and other drum sounds not available in SD. Since I haven't found an easy way of re-mapping, I thought if I could get everything on one grid, it would be easier to tackle manually.

I know AD has the aility to edit drum maps, but I don't know how to do it. You can use PRV to move the cymbals around and add the chokes. You just need to know what note value corresponds to the cymbal choke. There is a handy diagram of a keyboard and the associated drum triggers for AD in the AD documentation. The other thing you could do, but its a bit more tedious, is break your original midi clip into smaller sections that do open in Step Sequencer and save each step sequence as a separate file. Open each one, make your changes and then save them again, but that is an awful lot of work, just to use step sequencer when PRV really does the same stuff (it just doesn't loop it automatically).
