Step Sequencer in 7/8 time.

Hi Guys,

I am having difficulty  'syncing' my step sequencer to my project timing of 7/8. In 4/4 time, if
I were to have my step sequencer set up as follow it works fine as in everything is in sync:
1     2     3     4
----  ----  ----  ----
Beats per pattern: 4
Steps per beat : 4

But in 7/8 I just can't seem to get it right... My step sequencer set up for a project in 7/8
time is as follow:
1         2         3         4         5         6         7         8
--------  --------  --------  --------  --------  --------  --------  --------
Beats per pattern: 7
Steps per beat : 8

I hope someone can advise. Thanks.
