Step Sequencer note merging shortcut?

Step Sequencer note merging shortcut?

I recently upgraded Sonar Producer X1b to Sonar Expanded X1d. Somewhere in that upgrade the Step Sequencer has changed so that you can't draw merged notes the same way. I used to be able to hold down CTRL and draw a few notes and they were merged. Now, that no longer works, but I can draw notes and then merge them, it just takes an extra step. Did this shortcut change, or disappear?
