Yup. For Pop, Metal and Hard Rock this is the ticket IMO. Not so for ballads, jazz and techno.

50% is quite regular but occasionally you get a 'mastering special' from the 'no-brainer' type stores with an additional discount making it $99. nice.

Would I really need to even consider Fabfilters with this all powerful music making machine in my sonic arsenal? It does everything but mow the lawn and brush your teeth from the sounds of it. What's the word on this from some of you that have 'em all? If I was trapped on a S Pacific Island w/nothing but one all in one mastering tool and a power generator [and iLok] to run my gear ... what mastering tool should I have?

This is the question, indeed .... How does Slate compare to the mighty Fab, if he uses it all the time?

Personally I like the Pro L better. But that may be because I've never really learned all the intricacies of the FG-X. They are both top notch and you couldn't go wrong with either of them. That said, I'm now very used to the FF GUI setup and it seems to be easier for me to work with. Perhaps Bapsi could weigh in here about his work with the FG-X. But at this price...it's pretty much "go get ya some!!!"

Hmm, the site says '50% off through May 20th". I think you missed the special - I added to my cart just to check, and it comes up at full price. I'm not spending any maney right now anyway, unless of course FF come up with a 50% off the whole caboodle bundle deal ... then I might reconsider. Of course, it would need to be a supa dupa really great deal ... one worth the extremely painful torture I'd have to endure from my wife when she finds out :-) Cheers - Cliff

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Zo, ol pal. I can achieve similar sonics with both but I just find it easier with Pro L. Of course FG-X does more than just limit. At any rate I think FG-X is worth it's full retail price so anyone who could get it for $99 bucks or thereabouts is getting a deal.
