Still Alive (Portal End Song)

So I've got an exam today... and instead of revising the morning yesterday, I spent it making this

http://soundcloud.com/mike-white/still-alive-work-in-progress

Enjoy x (PS, I have revised through the afternoon and this morning though, I'm not that dumb ;) But when the exam is on MIDI messages and data, and I'm on places like this all the time... Well :P)

lol, I loved that game. This is a faithful (good) version of the original.

What plugin did you use to make the GlaDOS voice sound electronic?

    Cheers,

Wow, what an interesting song.  I like that effect on the vocal, although it could get cloying if it was overused.  The song itself is really catchy and well produced.  Nicely done.

    All the best,

Well, that was unexpected. Very cool way to learn midi.

I used Melodyne. You take your vocal, tune it. Then find right click and hold and find the "modulation" option that allows you to extenuate or removed any vibrato in a vocal. Double click to remove the entire thing, and then you select the formant tool and raise it about 2.5 block. Fun stuff.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Ain't that weird? Heh.

For those who don't know what this song is and may be scratching your head over some of the lyrics ... it's from the game 'Portal'. It's a song written by the AI computer that helps you through the game. If you never played the Half Life series or Portal, you won't understand some of the lyrics.

This is awesome Mike. The only thing left is to add the harmony's.

    That's quite cool!  :)

Shad...cool way to learn midi.  True.  Or you could slave over several dozen songs too, trying to figure it out!
