Still cannot get "Addicitive drums" Drum map in PRV.

Help this is making me crazy.  I followed the steps and threads on the subject but ...  When I get the map in place, PRV has drum names but the note squares change shape.  Then if I close the PRV and reopen by clicking on the clip it goes back to a keyboard and no longer plays AD.  The MIDI output is showing DM1 AD by Subjacent and I can no longer open the midi channel.  Pressing the keys plays no sound.  Is this a known issue??

Note - I did not have the AppData folder in my user folder, so I copied the drum.map to a known folder and set preferences accordingly.  When I installed I had already had installed X2 and only downloaded the 1st file of X3.  I have the box set so is there a way to get these files after the fact, please let me know.

Thanks to anyone who can help,
Ken

Update:  OK, so I read the manual ( I should have started there;)  The notes are showing velocity tails and what-not.  The bottom line is I would like AD to act just like SD3.  SD3 midi output is the SD synth but the note names are correct and the notes are without velocity info.  When I double click on the midi clip It just works.  With AD I see the midi out set to a drum map which works until I double click on the midi clip? Which then brings up the PRV with keyboard and no longer plays drum sounds?

Updated update:  I feel like I'm talking to myself.  The issue turns out to be if the clip was present before the drum map it misbehaves as described.  I re-added the clip and all is working.  I hope this can help someone else who may end up here.
