Yeah... I made something like this one time for a studio setup I had..... used relays and it worked pretty good but it made a loud bang every time I switched it.
To get rid of the bang you just need to add a resistor between the posts. I don't remember the value exactly - but a quick search should help you out. Craig Anderton could likely provide a solution in a heartbeat
DerGeist: You are asking for a pretty special box there, I don't think it will be very easy to find one off the shelf. I know you said not to say just "build one" - but that is likely going to be the only solution. My suggestion is to find someone in your area that can build one for you. It's about a 30 minute job for anyone with just a little knowledge.
