Storybook, new Distant Towers tune, first one for 2011

Good evening folks.

Distant Towers has a new song called "Storybook".  We hope that you will put your critical ears to it and let us know what you think.  Our website is currently down but will soon be up and running.  Anyway, you can listen to the song at our Soundclick site by the link below.

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10269099

Lineup:
Tom McCaffrey:  Vocals, lyrics, bass, mixing and, of course, totally in charge of bringing some kind of weirdness to the tune.
Preston "Presto" Richardson:  Drums and percussion.
Tony Wood:  Guitars, guitar synths

Thanks in advance for any listens and for all comments...be they good, bad, ugly, downright hateful or otherwise.

Take care and see ya round.

Do my ears deceive me or is that a lil bit of a poppy tune lurking under here ?? DT tunes seem to be getting the hooks in quicker these days. Can't say much about the mix as only on lappy speakers, but it translates well and I kinda know by now that it will be pretty much as it should be. 3:45 onwards sounds kind of familiar.......I, I, I, I I'm not your stepping stone... I think I heard that somewhere from somg long ago...... ;) Or is that just me ??

Either way, I like it plenty.

cool, always good to hear a new DT tune! Yes, this is definitely more straight ahead than many of yours, more The Cult than The Mission, if you will.
Bass and drums are perfect, the clean guitar is a bit muffled and needs a little mid-high eq/presence, but the distorted is perfect, and not as fuzzy as you sometimes have it.
Love the little wig-out in the middle with the samples.
great segue back to the clean guitar and ending.
    vocals are of course superb.

fantastic effort as ever guys! love it!

I loves me some DT. I may have mentioned that before. Something about your music chimes with me, not sure what exactly. It's probably a combo of the mood, the attitude and the sheer inventiveness, coupled with riffs and melodies that are instantly 'hooky'.

I get the same feeling listening to Tom Waits, Muse, Sensational Alex Harvey band, P Gabriel, Streetwalkers etc.

This one ticks every box for me, just fantastic. The mix is a delight to my ears, as is the arrangement. One day you guys might disappoint, but I have me doubts.

This is some serious mope-pop. Downbeat, angry, spit in your face...love it.
There are some minor timing issues that distracted me slightly, which is weird cuz I never noticed that before with you guys.

What is that high thing on the left during the chorus?

Loved the break before the lead, which was some scary stuff.

I am going to have to collaborate with you maniacs at some point.

Very cool!  Kind of remind me of Thin Lizzy.  The production sounds fantastic.

I don't understand why your tunes get so few responses...

Thanks for all the input and listens...I went back in and worked that lil "high-thing" in the chorus (James) I think that was a ride cymbal issue and tamed the chours a bit as you pointed out Frank..it was a bit hot to be sure.

Again thanks for your good ears and sharing your thoughts all the way round!

It's not allowing me to play the file. I get 'error loading songfile'

It's a bit frustrating, as judging by the comments above, it's a great track.

    Will try again later.
