Strammy on a bike!

The kids and I went for a bike ride today.

Here's the route (H = Home) - I marked it out to show just how lucky we now are in Worcester to have so many designated cycle lanes (blue arrows). We crossed the river Severn over both foot/cycle bridges, however for the sake of safety we had to push the bikes over the road bridge.

It took a leisurely couple of hours to do the round trip, and no nasty hills to overcome.

Hey, wait a minute...  The topic title says "Strammy on a bike!" yet all I see is some map with graffiti on it.  That's very deceiving if you ask me.  Reminds me of this picture:

That sounds like tons of fun, Steve.

Around here, everything is uphill.  No downhills anywhere.  Yeah, it's weird, but true!

Alex, LOL! To accommodate my extensive rump, my bike is fitted with a saddle the size of a small armchair that is filled with royal jelly

"No pics or it didn't happen" eh Bill Here's a shot I took from the opposite bank (also a designated cycle/footpath) a few years back showing our beautiful 12th century Cathedral - the chap in the red top is walking along the path on that side:

Eric, until I started cycling again recently (in a vain effort to get a bit fitter) I didn't realise quite how well the cyclists and pedestrians were being looked after around here! Nice to see my exorbitant Council Tax is being spent wisely on something other than your enormous broadband speed

    Good one Craig

It's great fun Janet, the cycle lanes are good but now the kids are a bit older, I'm confident to take them onto the roads if needs be. On that route we probably start off somewhere near the highest point and cycling along the river banks is the lowest, so I guess we have to climb back up somewhere along the line! But it's all gradual, so it's not too bad.

I used to love riding for miles and miles around SE Wisconsin.  They had bike trails everywhere, including one that stretched for miles across the state (and farther maybe?), that was made where an old railroad track used to be.  Talk about straight and flat!  lol  Even riding around town (away from the highways) was safe, fun and relatively flat.  Around here, I had to get a 24 speed just so I could get up to the back road that leads to our smaller back road.  And then I only make it on a good day.  Fortunately, I've had lots more FUN things to take my time and keep me in shape lately, like cutting up trees and hauling firewood and such, so I haven't been on my bike much lately.  Maybe I'll have to get that bike in shape again...  (we do have one castle around here too...built WAY back in the early 1900's.  :)  Unfortunately it burned soon after it was done.  Still attracts lots of tourists and locals on a nice day.)  Look up Ha Ha Tonka State Park.  (or, as the kids often say "Honka Tonka."  :)

Not that Steve, I've never seen any pictures of that part of the world. To me it's fascinating. All I get to see are piroques and alligators. Oh, and snakes. I ran over a water mocassin yesterday.

    Straummy,

You're going to have to take me to that Cathedral whilst I'm on the  2012 Bapu Armageddon Tour of the UK and France.

Oh ya that's sure is one majestic structure, that rock shanty to the left of it in the center photo looks like it seen some history too. Great pics Strummy. Sure is nicer to look at than the castles we have around here.

Gissa yell if you do. I live about six minutes away from it.

Here's the view from my living room window

Couple of decent pubs nearby too.
