Strange FX bin behavior

Can’t figure this one out. I have a kick drum track and a snare drum track. Both are WAV clips.

I inserted an EQ plug-in in the kick drum FX bin. The plug-in has a visual analyzer that represents the frequency responses of the signal coming into it. Here is where it gets weird: The frequency analyzer is responding to the snare drum hits, although changing settings on the plug-in do affect the kick drum. In other words, if I make a cut at 300 Hz, it cuts 300 from the kick even though the frequency analyzer is visually responding to the incoming signal of the snare. ???

I have checked the routings, and there are no sends on either track. Both feedinto a drum submix bus, which then goes to the master bus. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks!
