Strange Freezing Trouble

Ok, so on my current project I am getting some strange behavior with freezing and unfreezing synths.

If I click to unfreeze a frozen synth I get the dialog "freezing synth" and it proceeds as if it is freezing the synth, yet I am trying to UNFREEZE an already frozen synth.

After trying again I can sometimes get the synth to unfreeze, but the audio tracks do not disappear as if it hasn't unfrozen!  What gives?

I am not running the quick fix, perhaps I should try it?

Yes do try the fix. Failing that...
If you want to unfreeze things quickly, I would probably go along the microwave route. I have one racked below an access virus c and put the frozen tracks on a USB stick. 2 mins on defrost does the job for me.

Quad core pentium, win 7 64 bit, 8gb ram, sonar x2 producer, access virus c, matsui 600w Gourmet deluxe.
