Strange Metronome Behaviour in X1 - Anyone else getting this?

This has happened twice now -

All of a sudden the metronome is on and playing directly into my audio device.  Normally I rout the Metronome to a Metronome buss, which is routed to the Master buss.  When I go into the Metronome settings it has re-routed itself directly to my audio device (same as the output of the master buss).  The metronome plays, even though Playback and Recording are not checked.  If I re-rout it to the Metronome Buss, all is well.  This happened last night, and again this morning.  This morning it happened after the audio device stopped playing for some reason.  When I went into the drivers and re-selected my audio driver, audio came back as normal, but the metronome had re-routed itself.

Yeah, I get the metronome starting on it's own out of the blue. I suspect it is after I have visited the Preferences for some reason. Curiously, the metronome button on the Transport Module is off during this time. But, if I click it on (so that it illuminates) and then off again, the metronome will finally shut itself off.

    Cheers,

It happened to me too. I routed the Metronome to the 4th output of "software playback" of my RME and it sometimes comes back to the 1st. . It seems it always happens after going in the Preferences menu and applying a change (colors for me).

I discovered that X1 inserts a stereo bus called Metronome for some odd reason.  I think the shortcut to show the hidden bus pane is Shift-arrow down.  I deleted the Metronome bus and the annoyance went away.

They eliminate the Save button and add a metronome bus.  Go figure.

I found how to reproduce the bug :

    - hit "P" to open the Preferences menu
    - set the audio metronome to the output you want (but not the 1st)
    - Apply
    - without closing the Preferences menu, change a color
    - Apply
    - close Preferences menu
    - hit Play, the metronome is in the right output
    - Open again the Preferences menu
    - change a color
    - Apply + Close
    - hit Play : metronome is in the 1st available output

    I reported it to Cakewalk.

Ok my problem is, the metronome starts playing during playback but Im looking right at the button for it and it is OFF!!!

Then, I stop the track and push on and off on that button and it doesnt play when I play back the project again.

But then sometimes it finds its way back playing as Im working, biut again, the button shows that it is off so it isnt like I hot a shortcut or something.

    Weird!!!

I hope they fix this as I use the audio metronome to drive my recording light and the talkback and tracking room speaker ducker.

I tested this bug numerous times with the same results. I reported it Cakewalk.

Controlling the metronome works correctly ONLY from the TRANSPORT toolbar.

Here's a step by step example of the BUG from a starting point where the DURING PLAYBACK and RECORD is ACTIVE in the metronome settings:

    1. press "P"
    2. choose the project/metronome menu
    3. UNCHECK PLAYBACK, RECORD and set RECORD COUNT IN to "0"  (APPLY AND CLOSE)
    4. ARM a track to record.
    5. Press RECORD on the transport.

The METRONOME should not be heard BUT IT IS!!

Now, on the TRANSPORT toolbar CLICK the RECORD Metronome ON and then CLICK it OFF.

The METRONOME will now be silenced during recording.

Controlling the Metronome from the TRANSPORT appears to work fine and the settings are visually reflected in the PREFERENCES MENU. Making these settings from the PREFERENCES menu reflects VISUALLY on the TRANSPORT toolbar but the metronome is not silenced as it should be.

It looks as if there is a disconnect between the controls in the PREFERENCES menu for the metronome and the toolbar.

Maybe it'll be fixed in X1B

Just happened to me now, too.  As others have mentioned I think it's something that occurs after you visit the Preferences dialog box.

Yes, but it's not new to X1. This has been happening to me off and on for at least the last two versions, but only when I touched certain specific parameters in Global Options. I suspect it's happening more frequently, and being encountered by more users now, because of the way X1 handles saving changes to the Unified Preferences.
