Strange "clipping" issues when having fx enabled

Hi there,
I can't really say that my switch to Sonar from Cubase has been very simple so far. But I hope I'll eventually get along with this piece of software.

This is the case: I have a setup where there are 4 active soft synths, none with any fx. And right now there is also an empty audio track with Sonitus: fx reverb and a LP-64 EQ.

When I playback the song with the fx disabled everything sounds okay and as it should. But when I enable fx, even though there are no audio with any fx applied, I get some strange occurrences after I've been playing the song for about 1 minute or so (no matter from which position I start the playback). Then some notes from midi tracks for the softh synths aren't played. Perhaps one or 2 1/8 notes on each or every other beat. I really don't understand how it can behave like this.

I know that it's not the actual midi notes that are incorrect, because it's completely random and as I said I do not have this problem when I have disabled fx.

It might not be the biggest problem but it gets really annoying when notes starts to disappear at random places during playback...

I don't think that it should be any hardware performance issues as I'm running a Intel 2500k i5 CPU, which overclocks to 4.0mhz when necessary, and 8gb of RAM. I've been thinking if my audio drivers could be playing me a prank or something like that. Because I've had some issues with the asio4all driver I'm running now. But it seems to be working fine now and I don't understand how it would be causing that.

Plug-ins on any track/bus, whether in use or not, may impact the project.

Dropped MIDI notes are often an indication of too small a playback buffer. Try increasing the "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffers" in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording to 500 or 750.

Hmm.. I think you might be right about the playback buffer. I somehow believe I've been fiddling with that buffer size earlier. Because it was quite low. You've probably solved my problem (I'll get back if the problem's still there). Thank you for a very quick reply!
