Strange effects with TB-Isone plugin (and some other weird things)
Well - I have played around with Platinum for a while, and in general I am very pleased with it.
I encountered some weird things tough...
First, I have to explain what setup I am using.
As I am using an Focusrite Saffire (old white standing firewire model) that has several outputs I have the luxury to be able to make an multi-output configuration. The reason is that I use ARC 2 on my monitors and TB-Isone on my headphones, and those must not appear in the final mixdown. I have configured to have two (post fader) sends on my Master channel that connect to two output busses. One bus named "Headphones" goes to output 5/6 on the Saffire (this is standard connected to headphone out 1/2, weird but it is as it is), and another bus called "Monitors" goes to output 1/2 (my studio monitors). The output from the master channel itself goes to the (unused) outputs 9/10. This way I can use the ARC 2 plugin on the "Monitors" bus, the TB-Isone plugin on the "Headphone" bus, and leave the master bus clean for exporting. This works very nice, because I do not have to keep an eye on the plugins like I would have been doing if I had used only one Master output.
Strange thing is, that the TB-Isone plugin does not work (no sound out) if I load my project. However - if I close the project and re-open it, it works without flaws. Disable and enable the plugin when it is not working only gives an clicking sound, but nothing else. Anyone has the same problems?
Another weird thing is, that when I open an older project where the above configuration is added to (so - reconfigure outputs and save the project, and open that saved project at an later date), my Saffire ASIO outputs become grayed out, and I only can use the "Generic low latency ASIO drivers", that have an single output and input. I have to disable that output in the Preferences, save the configuration and after that I am able to use the Saffire driver and enable the full range of outputs.
It is not an biggie (because it takes only a short time to correct this), but an bit strange that this happens. It also happens fairly randomly, so there is no precise condition to give when it will happen.
Bot - as said, overall I am happy with my (renewed) Sonar version.
Now I am only waiting for the launch/release of Omnisphere 2... Only a few hours left...
