Strange idea, but not so much...

Ok I want to be able to insert "notes" on my tracks...but not notation...actual sticky notes to document signal chain, settings and for synths which presets/vsts/fx/etc...

Frankly we're doing everything in the daw already so why not?

When I see a bounced clip I would like to be able to name the clip and spec it out...is this already possible or a pipe dream?

There's a ton of information I could quickly post and then move on, especially when doing sound design or gear shootouts...also setting my vst's/fx it would be handy to know what works and what doesn't and it seems there should be a simple way to document this in the track...sure it might get cluttered but it's a freakin WOV file already, who cares?

I suppose if you empty your picture cache you could be hosed but I store stuff offline anyway...

I'm using SOnar Platinium on a 6 core Lynx Audio machine and a ton of vintage pre-amps/eq's/comps I build for fun and sometimes money, REDD.47/API/Neve I also use the UAD stuff, and also use a Macbook Logic 9 through Apogee...

In track view you will see at the top,Clip,Track and ProCH tabs,

click on the Track tab>>click in the description box and you can type whatever info you want.

There is no critical data stored in the picture cache. No reason to save WOV files. Everything you want to do can be performed in the Inspector. As already indicated "Description" in Track/Bus tab in the Inspector for notes. There is an additional notes area in each take lane header, double-click in the space to the right of the take lane controls to enter text. There is also a text area in Project > Info. The name of a clips can be set in the Clip tab "Clip Name".

The only significant enhancement I'd like is being able to paste images into the info page (e.g., a photo of a miking setup or an analog processor's control settings).

Great idea! Can you lobby for that in X4?

For long winded stuff I use the Lyrics tab, It's kinda weird with sometimes changing the formatting of the text but it will hold endless amounts of babble.
I often use it when I make a different version to warn me, Hey- This is the version you played the bass line with your left foot on john.
And when I save the project I leave the lyric view open. So when you open that one it's the first thing you see.

Cakewalk pays the most attention to feature requests, not the ravings of some guitar-playing crazy person. However, I'll put in a feature request; if enough other people do, and there isn't some kind of technical quicksand, that increases the odds of it happening.
