Strawberry Fields - redone

Just at the beginning stages of toying around with this one....  this is pretty raw at this stage... and how about an up tempo power pop version????

Ok not as keen on this.  You've gone the other way with this were as I am the walrus was a bit thin but still excellent, this is too fat.  The drums get in the way, it doesn't need all the drum embelishments that you've sequenced.

It's just not doing it for me.  Don't worry I've attempted to cover this and I came up a little short too.  It's a realy difficult track to nail and even Lennon wasn't hapy with his version either.

    Peace Ben

Thanks for the listen Shawn & Ben!

SFF, is just a demo track with a drum machine.   I posted it for evaluating the change to the way the cover of the song was being done, not for the recording quality.   I thought it was an interesting idea to try (up tempo power pop) to take it in a different direction.   I was interested in hearing your thoughts on this.    If this version gets pursued, the drum machine will definitely go away.     So, listen to it as a concept.   Hope that clears this part of it up.

I like where this is going.  Yeah, it's different, but so what?  Follow your vision and instincts.  You're on to something.

    All the best,

Lynn & bapu, thank you for the listen and kind comments!

I added a track of my '53 Fender Dual Pro 8 steel guitar to the mix to add more color and uploaded it a few minutes ago.    It really adds a lot of "feel" to the mix.

    Hope you like the change!

    Best!

I sort of thought that was the case.  Sorry Beatles for me is kind of sacred where as I thought you did an excellent job with IATW because you stuck to the arangement.  I'm just too much of a purist to accept an uptmempo version of this song.  It sort of goes against the grain of the track or the meaning.  Def it can be heavier Lennon himself said he wanted it heavier but not an almost metal version.  But I am just one man and this is just one mans opinion.

Hi Ben,  I certainly understand your preference.   The sped up tempo idea actually came from John himself, as it was done on one of his demos of the song.    We just advanced it a wee bit further

Fixed some things today on the guitar bits between the verse & chorus.  Re-recorded it with the steel and it now sounds somewhat like a sitar.   Also played with big panning on the big descending slides.
