Street Warfare

Another older track. Another sample library demo.

First time trying out Wavesfactory's Samba Drums, NI's Action Strings (also the last time I used Action Strings).

Other sounds from Damage, VSL Epic Horns and a bunch of synths I can't remember right away.

Good demo for Samba Drums, though I still don't want 'em. I assume you never used Action Strings again because you didn't like them? They sounded a little one dimensional to me compared to other string libraries that I've heard you use. Pretty cool demo overall though!

I didn't use Action Strings again due to the limitations the library has. The content is good but too limited for my taste. I like to have the choice of actually writing the ostinatos I use. And for me it takes more time to use Action Strings than to just actually write the notes.

All and all I always try to steer away from loops and pre arranged stuff since I don't want anyone come and tell me I didn't do it myself... :D

I completely understand that. I feel the same way. The only "loops" I like are the ones I have for Kontakt from The Unfinished. These are great industrial rhythmic loops that I throw into a track from time to time. Otherwise, I too like to play the notes, and you are right that it can take more time to try to "fit" something into a song rather than write it yourself.

I think the instant gratification libraries such as Action Strings in the end limit you too much. Sure they are fast and can be made to sound great, but in the end you're just using the same damn thing as the next guy. And isn't the one big reason we all do this is to find our own voice as an artist? (Sorry for this, but Melodysheep and Robin Williams sum things up pretty frigging well.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2e_M06YDyY) How the heck are we supposed to find our voice if we take the shortcut and use things that someone else has made ready?

Sorry for the rant... :D
