Strike Drum Module from AIR Music - anyone else have this?

Guys
I got the Strike Module from AIR for basically nothing (long story but I have to say they were very helpful and generous with the problem I had)
 
So I have only just gotten round to using it and I do like it.
The only thing seems to be the Midi export seems lumpy to say the least.
I am trying to record before export, but getting exactly what you want seems very difficult - you end up with too much, too little, bits left over from a previous attempt!! I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, so if anyone uses this regularly I would love to hear your thoughts - and hopefully tips as to what I am doing wrong!!
