Strobe Tuners.

Who knew they'd cost as much as a Fender Tweed Jazz Bass case?

I guess I can add that to my equipment list now.

The Peterson stomp gets lots of good reviews - I have one and like to use it with halucinogens while trying to get the strobing to stop.  I also have a rack Korg DTR-2000 tuner that gets the most use since it can tune anything (I originally got it because it could handle my basses and baritone).

I've been wanting one or at least the DSP version.

Actually, if you have one of the newer phones (I don't yet - I set the budgets and won't let myself have one yet - lol!), you can get an app that works as a tuner.  I know a few people that have them (there's different apps for iPhones and Droids) and they love 'em.

    Me....and I find it cheaper not to build 5 string bass's or basses ( I don't know)

Back in the 70-80's I used ( and still have) a Korg  It has
a dial to select each string of a guitar for standard tuning and each selection
    has an access for calibrating.
The cool thing about that is one can tune the guitar and then adjust the tuner.
I used the "D" string for A440 reference so I'd just confirm the tuner's D was right then
tune/calibrate the other 5 to my guitar. May sound crazy but it made for fast, accurate tuning for
    a specific guitar.

I bought one of these many years ago

And still have it. IIRC it was $300 at the time and well worth every dollar.

I do tend to use the tuner in the POD2 since it's just a button push away.
