Hints of Steely Dan in the vibe and the vocal mix works well here.

Really nice production. Love the simple instrumentation but full sound. Lead voc is maybe a tad soft and maybe the solo as well. Love the bass.

Thanks for giving your opinion of the levels...these are the little things that take me forever to decide on. Thanks a freaking ton for the Steely Dan comments. Walter Becker is one of my favorite bass players of all time and the opening lick is pretty much his. As a guitar player, I try not to sound like a guitar player when playing bass, but I don't always succeed at that. Hahaha! Thanks for taking the time to listen...Your opinions are the ones I value the most. I've thought about adding a few more guitar licks or a little bit of keyboard fills, but I kind of like it simple too.

What a lovely crystal clear sound you have here Clint. Yes, Steely Dan, also Robben Ford comes to mind. It's a testament to the playing, arrangement and mix that such a sparse instrumentation sounds so full. Top marks sir.

Yep, top marks. Excellent song Clint, very well done. Are you singing this? I think all of the stuff of yours that I have listened to in the past were instrumentals. Great job with the vocals. I ditto the Steely Dan vibe. Like Lynn, I could easily hear Clapton singing and playing this song. Both two of my favorite artists, so that's telling you what I think of this song.
Lastly, I like the lead playing that you have done on this song very much, very tasteful and excellent tone. What are you playing through on this one, the Strat and Fender Mustang....amp sim?

Thanks Mike! Yep, that's me singing. The guitar is probably Amplitube. I don't use the Mustang for recording at all. I prefer Amplitube or S-Gear. Some of the older instrumental stuff was a HD500, but I'm pretty happy with my two choices...until I step up and buy a Kemper or AxefxII. Thanks for listening.

@jude77...Thanks a lot! I posted the two links because I remember someone saying youtube had better sound quality than soundcloud, but to be honest...I don't hear much difference. The mp3's I've heard on soundclick from some of you guys sound like the same quality too. I must not have the golden set of ears some people have.

Thanks Kenny. I'm really liking the combination of Sonar and Mixbus, but I have a lot to learn. When I go months in between projects I forget a lot of things and have to go back through the manuals. Good thing I love this stuff!

Thanks dcumpian, and Thanks tKx50505! I'm still learning my way with Mixbus, but it has a lot of potential. I think it fits in well with the sound I'm trying to get. I think the toms get a bit too heavy in the fills, but I'll fix that later. Thanks for listening!

Great stuff! All of the instruments sound really good. The groove is fat and nicely in the pocket, the guitar tones are perfect, and the vocals are clean and present (great intonation). Not much to add regarding the mix - clean, clear and punchy. I'm not sure there's much (if anything) to actually improve - sounds radio ready to me.

Once again, this is high quality production. Great guitar tones, playing and tasteful choice of notes too. Sung very well too... The only thing that leaps to my mind is that the drums don't have enough variation, I like to hear lots of different things going on, so that could just be me being picky.

Did I say Wow. Love this stuff. You did say be brutal though so...., I thought the bass could be a little more "light on it's feet" if that makes sense, a little heavy in relation the other parts that were playing. The stereo spread felt a little out when listening in headphones, I can't quite put my finger on it now, I'll have another listen. Ok, I think that the further the instruments are from the centre, they could be a little further back, maybe a touch quieter in spots that they don't have a 'front and centre' type part, or maybe a touch more verb, or something to make them just sit back a little. I think it would suit the feel. This would allow you to bring them out more when they do have a spot to give the song even more impact. This is just personal preference so don't muck up a good mix if you think what I'm thinking is not to your taste. Vocals are my thing and I thought yours were really solid. Well done.

Thanks for the compliments and for the ideas...I love to hear your opinions. It makes me listen in a different way. I believe the rhythm guitars are hard panned on this one...and I do like a loud bass, so I can't argue with your observations. You have good ears!
