Strum it cal

Why is there no documentation or am I just not finding it. Do I have to run the cal on each chord one by one? I understand the second part of the cal but the first part about the ticks, is not making sense. Or rather it should and I'm just not getting it.

It would seem to me it would be easier if you could just place arrows above each chord for which direction you want the strum to go.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

It's in the CAL file itself. The strum-it.cal I have is well-documented. Open the file with a text editor (like Notepad).

    To answer your questions -

no, just select the region (or entire track) you want to affect.

The part about the ticks is asking you how many clock ticks you want in between the notes. This is analogous to the speed of the strum. A low number means the notes will be played closely together. A higher number spreads them out further as in a slow strum. Adjusting this parameter has a lot to do with how realistic the part sounds.

I haven't used this CAL in a long time, but isn't there an option to select the direction or pattern of the strums? I could be thinking of something else. Usually, when I do a strummed MIDI guitar track, I slow down the tempo of the piece and play the strums in by manually "rolling" (like a really fast arpeggio) the chords. That way, I can control the direction.

It's already in SONAR (7PE, anyway).

What is this "cal"? Does it create more realistic strumming on midi guitars?

I am not an expert on it, but it is a kind of language to write scripts designed to accomplish things in Sonar. Things you might not be able to do with other methods, makes it easy to do things that might be a pain normally.

There are randomized velocity scripts, all kinds of stuff.
