I've been looking into getting a wav editor. I've ask about Pyro on another thread. Now I'm wondering if getting Studio one 2.6 producer for "the project page" would be better. Seems like they have what I'm hoping X3 will include. A dedicated mastering suite that will allow me to use my 64bit plugins. I need to be able to edit, crossfade, apply cd markers, enbed artwork and info and burn redbook cds. Will SO2.6 producer do this or do you have to have professional?

Professional only. I'm not paying $399 for it. The search coninues. Is Sound Forge my only option?

Look for sites that have competitive upgrades. IIRC, I got mine at Florida Music Co. www.floridamusicco.com $279.00

Another free update for the Bapu. yay Like the kReaper, I'm not 100% sold on S1 either. Maybe I'm not spending enough time with the software(s) these days.

I'm betting that X3 has a dedicated "mastering" section like S1. Just a hunch. But I got the mojo root and the monkey's paw here and they agree with me.

The mastering suite in S1 was one of the big surprises for me. I thought it was great idea. Think about it, create your song, record it all, mix it, and master it all in one program!! And I like the ability to go directly from the mastering stage of a song to the mix of the song your working in, make adjustments and then go back to the mastering of said song, right where you left off with the changes you just made loaded up! Great idea. And I wanted to like it. And I tried. But I like Sonar X better. No doubt.
