Studio Instruments GTP4

I insert a studio intrument track, lets say strings. I am presented with the instruments property page on which I can play the keyboard with the mouse and for instance I can play the violin.
Is it possible to record what I play in this way?

Cheers

Pete.

Well, it's possible, but it involves setting your sound card incorrectly, and invites problems on a huge scale, so technically no, you can't.
The proper way to do it is to:
    1. record MIDI data from an external controller
    2. Input notes to the MIDI track associated with SI
    3. Drag the patterns from SI to the MIDI track.
The GUI keyboard is for auditioning the sounds, and is not intended as a recording input. This is true of any VST synth that has such a keyboard.

At the risk of "statin' the bleedin' obvious"...

You've tried the piano roll view I assume?

I've got some decent results using that - I'm a better mouse clicker than a keyboard player

    Finger,

    That's too bleedin' obvious!

I am waiting for a delivery of a Sonuus G2M so I guess I will quietly wait and then struggle with midi.

So, not tried PRV....it cricks my neck;)
