Studio Instruments files installed to (x86) folder during 64-bit installation...

My recent installation of X3 Producer (64-bit) placed Studio Instruments' documentation, multisamples, and resources folders and files in "Program Files (x86)/Cakewalk/", while the .dll files were installed in their appropriate "Program Files/Cakewalk/Vstplugins/" folders.
 
Is this displacement by design? And can I simply move the files in question from the "Program Files (x86)" folder to the "Program Files" folder without causing problems or having to futz with registries? I'd like to keep everything in one place, if possible.
 
(I haven't yet launched X3, if that counts for anything.)

    I believe that is the normal location for the support files. If you move them, make sure to update the registry. The keys for Studio Instruments are in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Studio Instruments. If you do not want to mess with the registry, you could use a directory junction to point to the new location. Either way the paths defined in the registry must be satisfied for the plug-ins to work.

    I suppose I could just leave them if that's the default location... It just seems odd that those, and only those, would be placed in the (x86) folder while everything else went to the other.
     
    I don't mind making some tweaks to the registry as long as they are minor, few, and won't cause more problems than they solve. What all would I need to change, and what would I change them to? Would I just change the Data field of the "Contents Folder" and "Multisamples Folder" keys for each instrument to reflect the new location of the files? Same with the similar keys in the Wow6432Node registry folder?

    Each instrument looks like this one

    The contents and multisamples folders would need updating.
     
    Or you could move the Studio Instrument folder to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk and run cmd.exe as administrator and type
    mklink /j "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments" "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Studio Instruments"
     
    Or just leave the it alone and not worry about it.

    I'm pretty sure you confirmed what I was was editing to ask, but here it is again just to be sure:

    Yes, if you move the folders and elect not to create a directory junction with mklink, the Contents and Multisamples folder entries in the registry for each instrument would need updating. The directory junction would eliminate the need to mess with the registry.
     
    The Wow6432Node entries are used by 32bit apps but I suppose they should be kept in sync. The only 32bit audio app I run is SoundForge so don't worry too much about the 32bit part of the registry.
