KRK's are decent monitors and that's a usual price for them.

do a search on this forum - lots of opinions on monitors including these.

    Don't jump too quickly.

Not because they aren't fine monitors, but because they just released a revision of them (a few days ago):
    http://www.krksys.com/

Might be worth looking into either:
    - the new models, which will likely be around the same price
    - the old models (as in your link) a week or two from now when they're closeout priced

I have Rockit 6's, and I love them for my small studio space. They aren't the best I tested in the room, but they were half the price of the ones in the room that I thought were significantly better for what I do (ambient, electronic, classical, dub). They do start distorting at higher volumes, which isn't really an issue: they aren't sound reinforcement speakers... they're near fields.

If I can find a pair of Rockit 8's @ closeout, I'll jump on them without hesitation.

    Take care,
    - zevo

Oh cool! Maybe the Amazon price is already closeout, because I've only seen them for $149/piece until just recently, and a 33% discount smells of closeout. I imagine the next-gen Rokits would hover around the $150 mark.

Now if someone can point me in the direction of finding a good studio desk (budget). I would like something like this: Studio Desk

I don't see a computer keyboard tray. I suppose I can install one myself, but I don't want to void the warranty right out of the box. Right now I have an el cheapo computer desk. The seat is offset to the left. My speakers are standing on top of two empty power supply boxes to get them at ear level (I know ... pretty sad). Anyways, that desk above would be perfect if it only had a keyboard tray. The again, I heard that there wouldn't be enough room for that and a set of knees

That's a problem, because I'm 6'3" and I ALWAYS bump my knees on desks. My requirements are:

    - a shelf for speakers to be at ear level
    - solid enough to hold my old clunker of a monitor (21-inch Dell ... massive, but still running strong)
    - centered seating area
    - keyboard/mouse tray
    - room for MIDI keyboard would be a bonus

    All that for $200?

Anyone with power tools? I'll buy the wood and a six-pack ..hehe!

I suppose this one is OK: Mini Desk

I could buy separate speaker stands and leave my keyboard off to the side on its stand (where it is now).

What setup do you have? Maybe that would give me some ideas.

    Thanks.

re: desk - don't be afraid to look at regular office desk products for something that could be easily converted to fit your needs. They're typically cheaper than purpose built "studio" desks and are made of the same materials. BTW, I'm 6'2" and have the same problem hitting my knees. As long as there are keyboard trays mounted underneath the desktop I think we're out of luck.
