Studio One artist on my lap top

I finally installed the Studio One Artists license I bought during the NAMM special.

I wanted to try to track a few things on my lap top and I wanted to try my MOTU Traveler one last time.

The MOTUs is still a bit flaky, but I installed the app and in a few moments I was recording audio just like I thought it would.

I didn't need to read no stinking manual.

I went to see what the Studio Pro pack included... and for me it had nothing I really need and I really like the stripped down feel of the Artists pack. The built in EFX are servicable.

I may have a new location all audio multi track capture rig.

Crazy stuff.

best regards,
mike

It is a serviceable little system that is for sure....

    Hope it works out well...

    And as for reading manuals.....eh....

I've been fooling around doing double system sound for video with my Canon 5d mkII DSLR.

I need a new portable recorder... but the ones I want cost so much... I thought I give the laptop another chance.

I imagine I'll bring everything into SONAR on my DAW to use all my favorite VST etc.

where are you doing the recording?

I've been doing some recording of a couple of old timey steam traction engines using a R-05 and a couple of el-cheapo ribbon condensors...

I'd imagine that is a really good use for it.

I picked it up for £13.50 and it makes for a really quick and clean tracker, going mobile with it would be really handy.

    I like it.

    :-)

I am a fan of old timey steam engines.

Right now I'm fooling around with my 5D just establishing a full throughput work flow for editing here at the house.

At work we do just about any location. I most often send the sound to the cameras or a production truck but lately the 5D and RED cameras have reintroduced the double system work flow that is common with film work to video makers. I've been doing sound for several 5D shooters using a Sound Devices 552 mixer/recorder. We occasionally rent the 788T.

For a lot of work I usually need to be able to run and gun so the laptop is too cumbersome.

A laptop seems ideal for a multi camera 5D studio type shoot.

If I need more channels for music I just take my *desktop* DAW which is kept on a cart.

I have Studio One Artist installed on my laptop. For me, the lack of VST support was a showstopper. But I will say this about S1A: it actually runs on my laptop with its integrated crapola audio interface, whereas SONAR does not.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Most of my location recording, such as that is is done off the R-05 for now...I tend to do more field recordings of various farm machinery in operation ...things like Hit and Miss engines and old locomotives...ALCO 244's and the like...

I've been using more my MC5 and X1 at home...

The Roland seems like a cool unit.

    I am thinking I may get a Tascam DR-680
