Installed the demo out of interest. Something's not right - most of the options under the View menu are disabled, so I can't get to the Console view, for example. Found my audio drivers just fine as well as connected to Mackie Control and Extender. However, stuff seems disabled. Posted on the Presonus demo forum. 20 views and not help today.

The PreSonus forum is full of requests for help. At PreSonus, FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. All answers are printed in invisible ink, and only fanboys are given access to the magic glasses. At least with the flip of a coin, you've got a 50/50 chance.

They are good at one thing, though...banning peeps like me for complaining about never getting a response...after more than a year of asking...nicely, at first.

I have to admit I'm surprised that there aren't faster responses on the demo forum; that's future revenue if handled correctly...

Remember back when Presonus entered the DAW game and people went on and on about how it's so refreshing to have a responsive developer team with an up and coming product ready to challenge the DAW Dinosaurs?

Well, that was a LONG time ago (both time-wise and reality-wise).

This update 3.2.1 has broken a few little things midi wise.  Especially around editing velocities and quantising notes etc.  Not a biggie bit if you are doing a lot of this I would not update to 3.2.1.  Stay on 3.2 for the time being.  They usually fix things like this fast and 3.2.2 will be the one to update to.

It is still an amazing program that has progressed by leaps and bounds and it is very powerful and most of all stable.  I have never had a crash since V1 over 5 years ago.  And even with V3 stability still reigns supreme.  There are many questions about it but over half are user error or people confusing bugs with features and normal behaviour.  It has got some great features now.

The forums are usually fine and there are some fine people over there who really know their stuff.  I have never had a problem getting help or answers.  Maybe the Prime forum is not populated so much though.  That could be the issue there.  Certainly on the main Pro forum, there seems to be normal activity there.  Any questions relating to Prime will be answered in the main forum.

I'm not as gushing about Studio One as some but is is a good and useful DAW. I don't recall using a demo of it thus I can't answer any questions about that version. What you may think about doing is look hard at Artist to see if its style is something you can deal with. Later move to Professional to get all its features if you like it. It wont replace Sonar but can be useful in mastering as well as remote recording and mixing.

As far as stability it is stable but I believe Sonar is more stable. For me Sonar is near bullet proof. Studio One is a very good sounding easy to use DAW with some major limitations.
