Studio or Producer? (Or neither)

Hey,

I have been contemplating on upgrading from Sonar 4 producer to Sonar 5 but am wondering how good the actual benefits are of studio compared to producer. Do you guys think it is worth it to throw down the extra $79 to get producer? Also, right now my EMU-1820m system is rock solid with sonar 4. Has Sonar 5 introduced any instability with anyone?

The only things I want are

*Track Templates and Track Icons
* Object-oriented clip-based effects and editing including per-clip effects bin, clip-based effect automation, and more
*Enhanced Track Layers - SONAR’s acclaimed take management is now even more powerful with Per-layer Mute and Solo, overlap clips within layers, auto-crossfade clips on the same layer, and more.
*Bus & Synth Waveform Preview
Get the priceless visual feedback you need to fix it in the mix. Locate and see the value of the maximum peak of each audio track, synth or bus. Quickly find all the overs and peaks in your project to maximize output and prevent clipping.

    hi ryan,
i would take the plunge if you can. the features which you mention
(including the track lanes and lane muting) will more than pay for
themselves in the time that they save you. plus .. the per-track
EQ and the POW/r 3 dither and the Sonitus FX are big
deals in the quality of your sound.

I agree, Producer is well worth it, the Sonitus FX alone are worth the extra.

i think you'll likely need the upgrade to take advantage of the 64bit
    audio pipeline with these plug-ins.

Ps: you'll dig the convolving reverb too.

The Sonitus bundle *is* included with Sonar 5 Studio Edition. The extras in Producer are:

    - Additional synths: Pentagon, PSYN II and RXP
    - Additional effects: Pantheon (not LE), Perfect Space, V-Vocal
    - Surround mixing and surround effects
    - Video thumbnail track
    - POW-R dithering and MPEX time-scaling
    - Integrated EQ

    And that's it, I think.

Lots of gear. Not enough time.

If you haven't already, I'd download & install the latest version 1.82 drivers from E-MU.
