Please check out the thread Jbow linked to.

I own one of these units and did a short review of it with an audio sample in that thread.

I have a Shure M60 phono preamp... I wonder if I could adapt it to be a mic pre? Nevermind, I looked it up and it was sold as a phono preamp or microphone preamp -34db mono. So... question now is would that work with a ribbon mic and how? (So I don't ruin my mic). Would I use just the preamp and no phantom power? That is what I am thinking... but thinking has gotten me into trouble before. I have found that knowing is much better than thinking. Mike?

Someone gave it to me along with a Dynakit power amp, peramp, and tuner. A Fisher-600 set up in a table with an AR turntable, and a Sony reel to reel. A pair of Altec Lansing Duplex speakers with the crossovers, they are like 17 or 18" speakers. Got a couple of speakers from an old console stereo too... She was an elderly customer. Her husband was I think the second pilot hired by Delta when they started and eventually one of their presidents... he liked his stereo. Got several other odds and ends too. The M60 had Telefunkens in it... and I got a pair of nive Amperex El-34s from the Dynakit... It just occoured to me, I never looked in the Fisher or the Sony. I forgot, I also got a bunch of wallmount Heathkit speakers. They are gold colored large shallow cabinets with a knob on the botton, IIRC. They are really cool mid century modern speakers. I have about five years of Popular Electronics from the late 50s early 60s too. I need to pass them on to someone who can use them.
I need to get that stuff fixed up and either use it or sell it.

Some days are better than others....

The turntables I now have will plug right into a receiver. I have a Sansui 660 and a Pioneer SX-1010... no need for a turntable preamp with them. I would need it with the AR I think... but I need something for a ribbon mic... I bought one not understanding what I needed. I guess I should get a Fethead if I cannot use the M60. I may be able to use the M60 for both... it is a small simple thing to move if I need to.
