Subscription question

Hello, I didn't see a quick answer on this one...
On the new software, do you have to maintain the subscription to use it? I am now just a hobbyist and love having a version of producer for a few years and then upgrading when I want to. I may just use it from time to time when I tinker around and then when it is time to record a few songs I need it for a month. I am very used to having a fully functional version ready to go when I turn my PC on. I have used Cakewalk and Sonar as a creative tool for a decade plus, and I'd hate to have to learn another platform or have to pay every time I want to play around with some ideas.

Simply... If I pay to get the new version, say I go with "Platinum", is it only usable if I have a live subscription? Or do I have to just stick with my version I have now to maintain the "I already paid" style?

Thanks!

So then immediately I found this:

I assume I'm good to go just getting the 12 month!

    Thanks internet!

Correct. Nothing expires unless you don't pay the full price for it (either upfront, or 12 monthly payments).
