Suddenly, can't turn of Windows Sounds

Ive been using XP-64 bit for years, and all of a sudden today, my windows sounds are back when I open folders and such, the clicking sound.  I have selected the no sounds scheme, but the sounds play anyway.  Any ideas why?

im sure youve gone into devise manager and set that to no sounds if you have its a temporary fault of your computer.try a reboot of windows and see me in the morning..upon opening windows check device manager again and if need shut them off..sometimes web pages or programs will over ride your defaults.that or you got a virus

have you applied any customize theme that cause to play sound.
If you select no sound from the control panel sound option, then there must be not any sound that play when you click or perform any operation.
If the sound plays then it means there may be some Trojan's infection, You have use antivirus software.
