Suggested upgrade process from X1 to X2 (maintain existing settings and paths)?

Hi all,

I searched online and in these forums for an answer on this, and found nothing concrete, so any advice would be helpful.

I bought the X2 Producer upgrade a while back, but was in the midst of projects, so I didn't have a chance to install until now.

Basically, since this looks like an entirely new install package as opposed to an update patch, I just want to make sure everything goes where it should and I maintain my settings and paths and plugins and all that stuff as it is.

Or is it recommended to keep my old X1 where it is and install X2 clean in a different place just in case?

Any guidance or insight, very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Mojo

Just install it. Don't worry about paths and previous versions. It is a totally new install. One advantage is is that it will ask if you wish to migrate the settings from the old versions to the new. Outside of that just ignore the fact you have X1.

With the exception of the shared utilities and plugins, X2 will install in it's own directories. There is no need to remove X1. It is common to leave previous versions of SONAR installed, they do not take up much disk space (less than 200MB per version). If you wish, the install process will pick up your old configuration and make the appropriate adjustments to X2. If you are running X1 Producer or previously purchased Dimension Pro or Rapture, you can safely skip installing those plugins. The version of DimPro that shipped with X1 Producer is identical to the version shipping with X2. If you own Rapture and patch it current to v1.2.2, that is the version shipping with X2. If you installed Beatscape be aware that the Beatscape library in now part of the "Loops and One shots". You can save 4GB of space by removing the duplicate Beatscape library, if you need help with that let me know.
