Sum 100a V1 / V2 update | Tim Petherick- Nebula

Tim Petherick's latest Sum 100a V1 leveling amp for Nebula.
I just purchased & tried it on a flugelhorn track that I was having a problem getting to sit in the mix right.
Tried my other comps including Softube's TLA-100 but Tim's did the trick, track is done.

Compressors in Nebula are definitely getting better.

£9.00 / $15.00

I bought this too -- no-brainer price and high quality, as with all Tim's Nebula libraries.

This may be my favorite Nebula compressor yet.  Not many have struck my fancy, but this one seems to work like you'd expect a real compressor to work.

Now if we could just have this performance married to Softube's lovely GUI, that would be so nice.  Actually, something like that might happen one of these days, given the new Nebula-based VSTs coming out lately:  http://www.acustica-audio.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=312

I have Trinity & use it quite a bit; great on acoustic guitars. Also the EQP1 works well on bass, drum bus. I also use it on VEPro5's master out to eq or master orchestra. (as the Pultec was originally designed IIRC)
Hope Micheal ports his MEQ to Acqua too, I'll use his Neb version in the meantime.

    Eddie,
Have you tried using Henry's SUMM Tube Limiting Amp Mojo with the SUM 100A?
For £1 I'll  pick it up for my Softube TLA too.
I didn't see any info, where do think it should be placed, post the SUM100A?

I confess I haven't tried Henry's "mojo" presets, but I've heard that they are generally very subtle.  Please let us know if you hear an improvement while using them.  As for where they should be placed, I think I remember Henry saying there are no rules, and suggested using two or more placed before AND after the regular plug, to get additional effect.  Have fun!

I just tried the SUM on a few sax stems I got in. I have to say it works extremely well on those too. Adjust the GR & Makeup & it's there.
I'm anxious to hear how well it works on vox.

I just installed this, having enjoyed the original for a while, but I'm getting distortion in use, esp. at high GR levels.  Could it be because I don't have the latest Nebula plugin?  Tim's page specifies version 1.3.903, whereas his other libraries have no such requirement that I can see.  In any case, the original still sounds great to me.

Cool that preamp programs are now included, anyway.  And the division of the compressor programs into Fast, Med, and Slow attack versions more closely emulates the hardware.  Will continue to see if I can get this to work as I expect.  Kind of dread having to upgrade Nebula, though -- that's not exactly a foolproof procedure, IME.

    Cheers,

I'm having a similar problem using 44k only it's crackling, not distortion. My  buffers are set normally for my all Neb. & sample libraries.
I'm on v1.3.846..it might be the problem although all my other Neb programs work better with this version.
Could be Tim needs do do some tweaking too. It sounds great though, using line & mostly med or slow here..

I emailed Tim & he said to try lowering the buffer in Nebula.
Also in Mast change the OPT Timed to 5 if it's 3.
Haven't checked or tried it yet myself.
