Sum kneel jung four ewe

So the new year is hear and I figured I would start it off with a wall-o-sound rocker like this

https://www.box.com/s/ug7td9309wyo20ojsoi1

I have liked this guy since I first hear him play and sing....

disclosure: Bass, Drums and B3 are BB tracks... all else is me.

2 crunchy fender electrics cranked and panned
2 Taylor acoustics panned
1 lead cranked fender down the center
3 vocal tracks screamed ...well kinda

many of these tracks are one shot... hit record and go.... no punch and no retake.... vocals included in that. Nits are left in. Reverb is intentionally heavier....

so... put on the cans, kick back and enjoy.... and lets rock the freaking world.. or summin like dat.

This has always been a favorite of mine, and you did a fine cover of this.  The performances are quite good, especially your vocal.  Yet, having heard this song a few hundred times, some things stood out.  Almost everything sounds thin, from the guitars and drums to the vocal, as if there's very little mid range or some frequencies got overly scooped, if you know what I mean.  It sounds like an easy fix, and others may hear it differently, but that's how it comes across on my monitors and cans.  Still, you chose a good song for your skills.

    All the best,
    Lynn

It's a little too wet. WAIT!? Did I actually say that? I like it wet? But this might dry out a bit, but then again, so should I?

It's funny to hear Herbbie Young :-)

And I agree w/Lynn. Something's not right with this mix. Butt like Sofia Vergera? I can't quite put my finger on it...

I have hated this guy ever since I first heard him play and sing.

Couldn't get into the box either.

Got it to open in my PC. (Stupid iPad)
This is on the set list for the new band I'm joining. He had a few good songs but I never cared much for the dude's singing and playing.

Good job on the cover. Enjoyable listen.

    Vocals delivery sounds great.

The band sounds loose but "right there" just like Crazy Horse on a good night.

I played this song live with a band of buddies for many years.

I've also seen it played by the big man in big halls a few times.

It was a lot of fun to hear again... you captured the very best part: the vibe!

    Thanks.

    Hey... good morning.....

    Daryl:  thank you

Lynn: sounds thin.... interesting.... IDK... it was a sort of a rush and the guitar is my Fender tele, not the normal Gibson I use....

Bapu: I was thinking that same thing too.....

Robby: many things are better when wet.... to one degree or another.... I did put heavier verb on this than normal..... kinda going more for a stadium sound than the studio clean..... The version I saw on you tube was in a live concert setting....and it sounded cool, so I was trying for that overall vibe

Scotty: One day, my guidance councilor in high school asked me what career I wanted to go into.....I replied that I wanted to be a musician like Neil Young.... I think she "wrote me off" then and there.

Mike: nailing the vibe..... what more could someone hope to do?   thanks.

Herb, I listened again today and discovered that I had set my playback incorrectly.  Therefor, on this listen it sounded much different, and not thin like I thought.  In fact, I really enjoyed this version and think you hit this one out of the park.

Thanks Dan....  I like the wide mix too.... The guitars... acoustic and crunchy rhythms are panned about 75% or more..... so yeah... it's wide. I do that on many of the recordings I make these days.

Herb – good stuff, love the guitar sounds and the vocal. To my ears it really does have a band sound and a live energy. It’s a fun tune, excellent cover – if I heard this on the radio I would assume it was Mr. Young.

I don’t usually listen to covers (I know, but that’s my problem…) and didn't even realize you meant Neil Young – I think my mind passed over the bizarre spelling in the same way I ignore words that use Z to pluralize  (one more of my problemz).

Any way – I will repeat myself - super vocal.  A nice wake-up tune on this sunny Sunday.

Excellent work! The music has heart!

Like Dylan, I don't think Young would have made it far if he had not been a great story teller.

Well done! Love how you ended it.
