Superior Drummer Installation

Hi folks. I need some input on installing Superior Drummer 2.3.1 I have the current updated installers from their website. I have not moved to installing because it seems confusing to me. For one thing - it appears that an EZdrummer home directory will be installed. Can someone explain that to me and if it makes any real difference? Secondly, the 64 Bit installer indicates a default directory for Superior Drummer to be set up in "Program files (x86). Do I want that as the Superior Home Directory? Or - should I change the directory to "Program Files" located in the 64 Bit portion of my computer? I do see that the VST plugins default to Program Files/Cakewalk/VST plugins. Is that correct? I'm not installing this program until I know the precise steps. I've read other comments on this forum and elsewhere, and it seems that there are no clear directions for installation. I appreciate some experienced instructions please. Thanks for your help. :-)

The only parts that really matter in a Superior Drummer installation are where the VST plugin goes and where you put the drum samples. The 64bit VST plugin should go where all your other Cakewalk 64bit VST plugins are installed; by default that is "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins". I installed the plugin in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Toontrack" because I like to keep plugins segregated by vendor. The drum samples should go on a sample drive, if you have one. If you do not have sample drive install the samples on a drive other than the one where your SONAR projects reside.

The EZdrummer home directory needs to be there if you ever add EZdrummer expansion packs which SD2 will play and recognize...I have a few, which are great...take your time as the learning curve for this program is kinda rough, or at least it was for me...also get on Toontracks forum....I recently bashed them, but will take it back as I was posting stuff in the WRONG forum! LOL Anyways, their yech support is pretty quick to respond to questions and are very helpful so far for me now...good luck and enjoy it...once you wrap your head around SD2 you will LOVE it!

I could be mistaken but I know EZ Drummer came with 2 ream me files. (yes I always call the m "ream me files" / readme files")
that explain this in detail (not great detail though.)
think superior does as well. I think they were pdf.s
but enough to somewhat wrap your head around it though.
as frost said, I think the curve on this one is a little steep so take your time and enjoy.

The Toontrack products do base the install on the EZDrummer directory. They have intelligence to install the products in that base directory. The installers go to the correct folders too.

I use the 64bit Superior and EZD expansions.  I add the VST directory for the DLL files in the SONAR plugin manager if it is not setup already.

During your install, you should take the defaults. If you try to install the products anywhere else, it may cause you some grief down the road.

Thought I was all set here, but now when I use the current download from the website it seems to install the 64 bit program - but it doesn't ask for any other disc and I have no clue how I'm supposed to install the sound libraries or where either. Hope someone can give me a little more guidance please. Thanks.
