Superior Drummer
I've done several searches for Superior Drummer, but I keep coming up with nothing. I feel like there should be something posted about it sometime in the past, but I just can't find it. If anyone has a link, please include it. I have a rather moderate DSL speed, and it can take hours to download programs. I wanted to try Superior Drummer and EZ Drummer with Platinum. It looks like to me what I downloaded regarding EZ Drummer says it will only work with Windows XP up to Win 7. I'm running Win 10. Does EZ Drummer not work with 10?
It appears that I have Superior Drummer downloaded and installed. I can find it in my computer here: This PC > Documents > Toontrack. But I also see it in Program Files (X86) It's been ages since I did something like this in SONAR and I don't want to mess up the paths or mess up something that is working fine now. What do I need to do, step by step, to get SONAR Platinum to recognize Superior Drummer? Thanks! JGP

Other than the fact that I already own EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer, I don't know why it's that big of a deal to not be able to use them because I've always liked Drums on Demand loops the best of all anyway. Even with these fancy programs you're still just basically sequencing loops and-or short segments to put together a drum track. For what I like, I haven't found any sound or tone that I like better than DoD.

Both work just fine in W10.
Make sure you get them both from the Toontrack website !

And you can of course import your EZ Drummer libraries into Superior drummer so that there is no need to use EZ Drummer at all. Just make sure you have updated to the latest build of Superior drummer with the groove player built in rather than the early version which required EZ Player.

You can't use Superior Drummer stand alone without Toontrack Solo. A free download at Toontrack. If you can't find it in SONAR scan for new plugins. https://www.toontrack.com/product/toontrack-solo/You can download it in the My Products section of the new installer. Keep scrolling its at the very end.

Speaking of the official ToonTrack site…I bought the boxed set of around 15 CD's a few years ago. I spent hours one night this week-end loading as many as I could. Some didn't have the "Install" tab, but most did. Then I went to the ToonTrack site and it wanted to update everything. I spent two days getting those downloads. One time it said something like…estimated time left 1,012 hours! Almost all of them took over 12 hours, but I think I got them all, except the EZ Drummer which kept telling me it couldn't install it. I bought EZ back around 2009 and still have the codes, if that will help, and maybe I'll find out where to enter them. Second part of story, I went to my SONAR X2 on the same laptop late last night and there was Superior Drummer 2. I opened it and it played fine. I went in the "Options" tab" and found the path and copied it and added it to Platinum and VOILA…I had Superior Drummer 2 on both the X2 and the Platinum. I must admit those drums sounded better than I remembered. They are really nice. My only problem now is the menus are so small that I have trouble reading them and seeing the drum patterns; VS, CH, BR, Variations etc. I have it hooked to a 32 inch monitor but obviously my video software is not that good in the laptop because the Superior Drummer GUI is still fuzzy, but I can make it work. I'll see what I can come up with on EZ Drummer. I got it back in the day before SONAR 8.5. I may have gotten it for Music Creator 5. I think I have everything fully functional on Platinum now. It's still working good. Looks like it's about time to buy it and put it on my desk top, too. BTW, the desk top is a Jim Roseberry built "Purrrfect Audio" desk top, and it's called a "Platinum." How appropriate! I just put the machine in the mail to Jim so he can upgrade the OS to Win 10 and add all the software that I've bought in the past back on. The downloads just take too long here and my CD's are outdated, and I want Jim to give it a good 100,000 mile check-up and tweak everything back up to max performance. Thanks! JGP
