Superior Drummer/Piano Roll issue

Super-noob here. Using Sonar X2 with Superior Drummer 2.0. Not sure if it's a glitch or what. I load up superior drummer and get sound while playing the drums/groove clips, even the step sequencer but when I go to piano roll I get no sound whatsoever. Any ideas??
Thanks!!

It's very strange if you get sound with the step sequencer but not in the piano roll, since it's basically the same thing in different costumes.. (I know it's a bit more than that, but in this case it shouldn't matter)

The only thing that comes to mind at once is that you maybe had superior drummer's audio track selected when opening the piano roll view. To get sound you need to open it when superior's MIDI-track is selected. I don't know if you created a seperate MIDI/Audio-track or an instrument track or if you know the difference of these different kinds of track types though

I think it would be easier for us to understand what might be wrong if you could explain exactly how you do, step by step. :) The more you explain the better understanding we'll get of your knowledge about these things as well.

Are you sure the piano view you opened is connected to the Superior Drummer MIDI track?

That's something that's always bugged about sonar although other sequencers may do the same) but why would an audio track have or need
a piano roll. If you have an audio track selected it shouldn't allow you to open a piano roll.
It should either do nothing or say something like,"please select a midi track"

    +1
or (if a VISi is connected to the audiotrack) just open the MIDI-track of this synth. (if multi-tibral maybe open ch1)

and if no VSTi is connected to the audio track, the best (IMHO) would be for Sonar to just ignore to command.
i don't like having to click buttons and confirm only that a mistake has been made... that's just time consuming

I had the same problem with Superior Drummer, just odd things going on.  For me the fix was not to drop the Superior Drummer into the FX bin but to add it thru the 'Add Synth' method. I'm not at my music computer but it's the Add Synth that appears in the Sonar Browser window (B shortcut).
