Surf's up!

I was bored last night so I remixed an tune I did a while back. It sounds a lot better now than it did.

I don't plan on revisiting the recording process on this so the flub during the lead will have to stay.

I'm sure some of you will remember this tune!

Enjoy!

Great tune - makes me want to grab my board and head for the big, big waves - as I cannot surf, that is a very odd feeling! For some reason, I cannot get the image of the Shadows out of my mind! But the Shads were never this good!

Hi Robert, nice one, like it , reminds of the version Dick Dale and SRV did.

That was the first tune I ever learned on guitar - it must have been around 1966 or 67.

Robert, you did a great version of this - very entertaining all the way through.

    Thanks.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it. We used to play this all the time but there were only two of us playing guitar so we did not get to do it quite like this. Fun song!

    Hey, Robert,

Very cool surf rocker, great playing and guitar tone, and a really nice mix that's right on the money for the genre!

Dynamite stuff, buddy, have a good one!

I do remember this one. Was it The Venture's?? The guitar work is fantastic, but, I also like the bass lines as well! Great job on this in capturing the vibe!

Cold here today in Texas, saw the title and had to have a listen. Nice rendition, well done. You captured the 60's tones and introduced some more modern sounds which I personally always find interesting. Regards

Robert: you've really been putting some time in with Sonar as well as your playing and it's really paying off man. Even your voice is getting a bit more consistent in your vocal tunes. (I know you didn't sing on this one lol) I know how hard that can be....and I can still remember the first tune you posted vocally on 6sh. You sure have come a long way in everything man...I just wanted you to know...I've been listening. :)

Some cool guitar work here...and I dig the distortion guitar on this. Warm, no harshness...and your drums lost that super warm thing you always used to get in other recordings. Whatever you used here...this is a good template man. Good job brother! :)

I've started this several times but never guite got it the way I envisoned it.  Yes I played this at sock hops in the early and mid-60s.  Mark Wessles and I had talked about doing this at one time.

The Shantays were a teribble band. Their album really stunk, but for this one tune that is just so kick-ass it is still with us 50 years later.  The ultimate one-hit wonders... my hats off to them.

And to you, cool arrangement.  Great licks.

I lived on Oahu back in the late 70s and have been to the Bonzi Pipeline :-) It's right across the street from the Medow gold Dairy cow pasture (don't ask how I know this). Sometime early next year I'll get the audio jack fixed on this notebook so I can listen in the cans again. This sounded great on my lap top speaks though!
